Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Superior senior runner Leah Holmes signed her national letter of intent on Thursday morning, making official her commitment to attend UW-Milwaukee to run Division I cross country and track and field.

Holmes made a verbal commitment to UW-Milwaukee shortly before the 2012 Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) cross country meet, which was run Oct. 27 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.

"I went down there on an official visit, and I got to meet the team and both of the coaches," Holmes said of UW-Milwaukee. "I just fell in love with it. I thought I liked this place, I'd fit in great, and the team was awesome."

Holmes has qualified for the WIAA state cross country meet all four years at Superior, with her top finish being 18th as a sophomore in that event.

Holmes took just one other official visit during her college search, to Division I Bradley University, but she said it was a tough process to narrow down her choices.
