Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Superior junior runner Leah Holmes won the double-A girl's championship at the 61st annual Swain Invitational on Saturday at Enger Park Golf Course in Duluth.
She crossed the finish line in 15:15 to claim the title, running on a course she had never raced before Saturday.
Superior finished ninth in the double-A girl's division, with Grand Rapids claiming the top Northland finish at third.
Esko junior Marisa Shady was the top Northland individual in the single-A girl's division, finishing third in a time of 15:06.
The Eskomos were also the top Northland team among single-A girls, finishing the meet in third.
As for the boy's double-A race, Superior's Evan Walpole was the top Northland finisher with a time of 16:42.
Grand Rapids and Duluth East finished tied for ninth in that event, marking the top finish by a Northland team in the double-A boy's race.
In the single-A boy's division, Proctor's Romeo Benish and Matt Welch finished third and fourth respectively, both coming across the line in 16:08.
Northwestern was the top Northland school for single-A boy's, finishing the meet in fourth place.
