T'hawks' Peterson Earns All-USA Honor

Grand Rapids, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Grand Rapids senior forward Avery Peterson added to his postseason award haul this week, that after he was named on Thursday the all-USA boys' hockey player of the year by USA Today.

Peterson, who was also named to the all-USA first team, is the first-ever winner of this award presented by USA Today and American Family Insurance.

The outgoing Thunderhawks senior had a terrific high school swan song, totaling 37 goals and 30 assists in 27 games played en route to also being named the recipient of Minnesota's Mr. Hockey award.

Peterson was a sixth-round draft pick of the Minnesota Wild in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, and he has committed to play Division I college hockey at Nebraska-Omaha.
