Thunderhawks Fall in Class AAA Quarterfinals

St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Grand Rapids volleyball team had a lead midway through the second game on Thursday afternoon but ended up falling in three, 25-18, 25-14, 25-14, to #3-seeded Delano in the MSHSL Class AAA quarterfinals.

Anna Yurrick and Angela Gareri led the Thunderhakws with five kills each in the match, with Maddie Keute chipping in with a team-high 16 digs as well.

The Tigers, meanwhile, were led by the 14 kills of Shelby Suerer and 20 digs of Elle Heinonen to advance to the state semifinals.

Grand Rapids is now (29-3) overall and will next be in action Friday against Rochester Mayo in the consolation bracket, with that match set for 11:00 a.m. at the Xcel Energy Center.
