Forest Lake, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Grand Rapids baseball team won twice on Saturday afternoon, advancing to the Section 7AAA championship on June 5.
The Thunderhawks beat St. Francis 9-1 in the section quarterfinals and then defeated Forest Lake 5-1 in the semifinals.
Grand Rapids last advanced to the MSHSL state tournament in 2008, a year in which the team advanced to the Class AAA semifinals.
The Thunderhawks will play June 5 for the section title, with that game scheduled for 4:00 p.m. in Forest Lake.
