Tigers' Nelson Hurdles Way to WIAA State Title

LaCrosse, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Northwestern's Tess Nelson won her second straight WIAA Division 2 state championship on Saturday in the 300-meter hurdles, finishing in a time of 45.66 seconds.

Nelson also finished eighth in the 100-meter hurdles at the WIAA state meet on Saturday, coming across the line in 15.71 seconds.

Three other Northwestern Tigers were competing Saturday, those being Jordan Johnson, Logan Holly, and Mike Nauman.

Johnson finished ninth in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5 minutes, 10.73 seconds.

Holly, meanwhile, came in fifth in the pole vault, jumping an even 10 feet for her best mark.

Nauman was the lone male representative for Northwestern in Saturday's finals, finishing sixth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 40.45 seconds.

The Tigers also had boy's 4x100-meter and 4x200-meter relay teams qualify for state, but they did not qualify past Friday's preliminary round.
