Cloquet, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Cherry softball team is on pace to defend its MSHSL Class A championship from 2012, but first the Tigers must focus on defending its past three titles in Section 7A.

Cherry beat Littlefork-Big Falls 4-0 on Tuesday afternoon to advance out of the winner's bracket to the section final, which will actually be a rematch with that same Vikings team.

After the loss, Littlefork-Big Falls went on to beat Deer River 18-1 in the loser's bracket to get another shot at defeating Cherry in this double-elimination section tournament.

Cherry needs just one victory to advance to the state tournament, while the Vikings must win twice in order to advance. The first championship game is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on May 30 in Cloquet, Minn.
