'Toppers Survive, 'Hounds Eliminated in H.S. Football

Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Duluth Marshall football team needed a second half rally to win its opening-round playoff game on Tuesday night, while across town Duluth East couldn't muster up the same kind of comeback in their first-round postseason contest.

The Hilltoppers scored 16 points in the second half after trailing 14-0 to beat Deer River and advance to the Section 7AA semifinals. Duluth Marshall will next host a semifinal game on October 27 at 2:00 p.m.

The Greyhounds, meanwhile, fell behind 14-0 as well in their game against St. Francis but could not find a rally in the second half. Duluth East ended up losing 35-13, ending their season in the Section 7AAAAA quarterfinals with a (2-7) overall record.
