Bloomington, IN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Twin Ports Rampage Under-12 softball team is competing this week at the Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA) Fastpitch Nationals and will do so as the only team from Minnesota or Wisconsin in that age group.
The team is made up of players from Superior, Wis., Solon Springs, Wis., Cloquet, Minn., and Hermantown, Minn., and it will open the tournament on Tuesday morning against a team from Texas.
Head coach Joe Stariha says his team has already far exceeded his expectations this summer, and that's been a result of hard work in the offseason.
"It's just a group of dedicated kids that worked hard and believed in our system," he said. "We have an indoor practice facility that the kids have to come to starting in November, and this group, instead of it being a chore, these kids were there three or four nights a week."
The Rampage has already won the Minnesota state championship and placed second in the Northern Nationals. The team's first pool play game at this tournament is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. in Bloomington, Ind.
