Minneapolis, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Virginia's top doubles pairing of Brylee Seitz and Taylor Gunderson have advanced to the Class A girls' tennis semifinals, that after winning their first two matches at the state tournament on Thursday.
Seitz and Gunderson took their first match against a pair from Crookston 6-1, 6-0, and then won a second match on Thursday 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 against a team from Rochester Lourdes.
The pair from Virginia will now take on Sarah Hays and Gina Ngyuen from St. Paul Academy and Summit, with that semifinal match set for October 26 at 8:00 a.m.
Eveleth-Gilbert's Amy Terrio and Kayla Young were also in the Class A doubles bracket, but lost their first match 7-6, 6-2 to a team from Waseca before also losing in the consolation bracket.
In the Class A singles bracket, Eveleth-Gilbert's Katelyn Rice lost her first match before beating Osakis' Taylor Kraemer to advance to the consolation semifinals.
Rice will now play Saint James' Aryn Eckstrom, with that match set for October 26 at 8:00 a.m.
