Former greyhound kara goucher qualified for her second event at the olympic trials... after winning the women's 5,000 meters on friday night.

The duluth east alumnus already punched a ticket to beijing after finishing second in the 10,000 meters last week...

The former Kara Wheeler had the fastest time during the preliminaries earlier this week.

On friday, she was in third place until the final stages of the final lap.

So she wins the 5,000... her time was 15 minutes and 1.2 seconds.

After the race, tears of joy for Kara.

She was congratulated by her sister Kelly Grgas–Wheeler and her mother.

The night wasn't over for the goucher clan... Kara's husband Adam was trying to make the men's 10,000 meter team for the US.

Kara tried to encourage Adam, who needed to finish in the top three and meet the Olympic qualifying standard.

Adam was in 4th place for awhile, but faded and finished 7th.

He also failed to make the men's 5,000 meter team, so he will not be going to Bejing.
