St. Louis, MO (NNCNOW.com) --- Adrian Peterson rushed for a season-high 212 yards on Sunday afternoon, leading the Minnesota Vikings to a 33-22 win over the St. Louis Rams and keeping the team's hope of a postseason berth in tact.

Peterson scored one touchdown to go along with his 212 yards, which puts him just 294 shy of breaking Eric Dickerson's all-time single-season record of 2,105 set in 1984.

The game was Peterson's fourth with 200 yards or more in his career, with only Tiki Barber (5) and O.J. Simpson (6) owning more since 1966.

Quarterback Christian Ponder completed 17-of-24 passes for 131 yards, and he also rushed for a touchdown midway through the first quarter.

The Vikings now own an (8-6) overall record and improve their road mark to (2-5) this season with the win.
