Badgers Officially Announce Andersen as Coach

December 20, 2012 Updated Dec 20, 2012 at 6:29 PM CST

Madison, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Gary Andersen has been hired as the 29th head football coach of the University of Wisconsin (UW), the school's athletic director Barry Alvarez officially announced on Thursday evening.

Reports surfaced earlier in the week that Andersen was the guy to replace Brett Bielema, but the UW Board of Regents needed to approve the hire, and they did so via conference call sometime on Thursday.

Andersen comes to the Badgers' football program after four seasons as head coach at Utag State, leading the Aggies to an overall record of (26-24) in that time.

UW will hold an introductory news conference for Andersen on Friday at 10:00 a.m., and it will be shown live on the Big Ten Network and streamed at UWBadgers.com.
