Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The 13th annual Blackwoods Blizzard Tour raised a record $763,000 this year for the Minnesota/North Dakota/South Dakota chapter of The ALS Association.

That total is an increase of more than $100,000 from last year and means the annual event has now raised more than $4.3 million in its history.

Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire and former Twins players Kent Hrbek and Terry Steinbach were the special emcees of this year's event, which also had a record number of registered riders.

Both Hrbek and Steinbach lost their father to ALS, or Lou Gehrig's Disease, and said again this winter that their hope is to one day announce a cure here in the Northland.
