Brewers' Lucroy to Start All-Star Game

July 10, 2014 Updated Jul 10, 2014 at 6:22 PM CST

Milwaukee, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Milwaukee Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy is in line to start for the National League in next week's 2014 MLB All-Star Game, that after original starter Yadier Molina suffered a thumb injury that is expected to keep him out up to two months.

Molina was the frontrunner in the fan vote with Lucroy finishing second, meaning the Brewers' backstop would be in line to start should Molina not be able to play.

Lucroy is hitting for a .327 average so far this season for Milwaukee, adding 44 runs batted in and nine home runs.

With the addition to the starting lineup, Milwaukee now has three All-Star starters for just the second time in franchise history --- with Lucroy joining Carlos Gomez and Aramis Ramirez.
