Indianapolis, IN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Indianapolis Colts officially announced Wednesday they are not picking up the option on quarterback Peyton Mannin's contract, making him an unrestricted free agent.
The four-time MVP and 11-time Pro Bowler missed the 2011 season following multiple neck surgeries but is prepared to make a return in 2012.
Manning was the first overall pick of the Colts in 1998, and has since guided them to eight division titles and a Super Bowl championship.
The 14-year veteran has set nearly every Indianapolis career passing record, throwing 399 touchdowns during his time with the Colts.
