Correia Throws 8 Shutout Innings, Twins Win

Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Kevin Correia pitched eight scoreless innings, and Justin Morneau homered as the Minnesota Twins cruised by the Texas Rangers, 5-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Correia (3-1) gave up just six hits while striking out two and walking one. His ERA drops to 2.23 with the win. Correia has now pitched at least seven innings in each of his first five starts for the Twins.

Morneau launched a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth while Chris Parmelee, Jamey Carroll, and Brian Dozier each knocked in a run for Minnesota.

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire was ejected in the bottom of the seventh inning, his 64th career ejection.

Minnesota (11-10) now travels to Detroit to take on the Tigers on Monday at 6:08 p.m.
