Ex-Badger Hedstrom Misses Medal Chance in Rowing

London, England (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Former University of Wisconsin rower Kristin Hedstrom and the United States finished fourth on Thursday in the semifinals of the lightweight double sculls, missing a chance to medal at the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games.

Hedstrom and teammate Julie Nichols finished in a time of 7:12.61, more than six seconds off the pace of Great Britain in the semifinal race.

The Americans will now advance to the event's Final B, which is scheduled for August 4 at 4:40 a.m. CT.

Hedstrom graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 2008, and this marks her first-ever Olympic apperance.
