St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Former University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) forward Justin Fontaine scored in the second period which would be the eventual game-winner as the Minnesota Wild topped Nashville 2-0 on Tuesday night.

Fontaine scored with less than two minutes remaining in the second to put the Wild on the board first. It was his second goal of the season. Jason Pominville added an empty-netter to seal the deal.

Minnesota goaltender Josh Harding recorded his eighth career shutout with 16 saves.

The Wild (4-3-3) face Carolina (4-2-3) on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the Xcel Energy Center.
