London, England (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Former University of Wisconsin star Gwen Jorgensen will be making her Olympic debut in London, set to race August 4 in the women's triathlon.

She is already in London preparing for her event, and she said all the support she's received from her native Wisconsin is overwhelming.

"I have a ton of family and friends back there, and the've all been really supportive and helpful," Jorgensen said. "It's been a huge blessing to have them behind me."

The Waukesha, Wisc. native was a member of the track and field, cross country, and swimming teams while with the Badgers, earning All-American honors in both track and field and cross country.

Jorgensen participated in five career NCAA championships, with three coming in track and field and two in cross country.

She was the 2009 Big Ten champion in both the 3,000-meters and the 5,000-meters, and she qualified for the Big Ten swimming championships in three consecutive years.
