Seattle, WA (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Former Wisconsin quarterback Russel Wilson has been named the starter for the Seattle Seahawks, beating out former Green Bay backup Matt Flynn.
The team announced the move on Sunday evening, making the Seahawks the ninth NFL organization this season to name a rookie as its starting quarterback.
In two preseason games this year, Wilson has completed 22-of-33 passes for 279 yards and three touchdowns. His passer rating has climbed to 110.5, and he has also racked up 92 rushing yards and a score.
Flynn, meanwhile, completed just 17-of-26 passes for 102 yards this preseason, leading the team to just four field goals and no touchdowns.
