Stockton, CA (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Former UMD Bulldogs goaltender Alex Stalock returned to game action this week following a nearly one-year absence after suffering a potentially career-ending nerve injury.

Stalock earned wins in both his games back with the Stockton Thunder, a minor league affiliate of the NHL's San Jose Sharks.

Stalock's injury occured only three days after he had made his NHL debut with San Jose last February, earning the win by coming on in relief of starter Antti Niemi.

The 24-year-old is UMD's all-time leader in both saves percentage and goals against average. He also led the Bulldogs to a WCHA Final Five tournament title and NCAA tournament appearance in 2009.
