(Northland's NewsCenter) --- Former UMD defenseman Jason Garrison signed a huge six-year deal with Vancouver on Sunday, the same day former Bulldog forward Evan Oberg re-signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The 27-year-old Garrison comes to the Canucks after playing in 77 games last season with Florida, totaling 16 goals and 17 assists. His six-year deal is reportedly worth $27.6 million.

The former Bulldog had played his entire career with the Panthers, playing 190 games and scoring 59 total points.

In three seasons with the Bulldogs from 2005-08, Garrison appeared in 142 games and tallied nine goals and 20 assists.

Oberg, meanwhile, signed a one-year deal with the Lightning on Sunday, staying with the club after he was acquired in a trade from Florida this past season.

The 24-year-old played only three NHL games with Tampa Bay in the 2011-12 season, totaling seven NHL-level games for his career.

Oberg played at UMD from 2007-09, playing 67 games and totaling eight goals and 22 assists for his collegiate career.
