San Francisco, CA (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Former Duluth Huskies pitcher Drew Smyly became the first former member of that organization to play in a World Series game, throwing 1.1 innings for Detroit in a 2-0 loss to San Francisco.

Smyly came on in relief of Doug Fister in the seventh inning, allowing a uncharged run in that frame before coming out again in the eighth.

The former Huskies pitcher was officially charged with one earned run and one hit, issuing three walks while striking out two.

Detroit now trails San Francisco two games to none in the World Series, with game three set for October 27 at 7:00 p.m.
