Freeman Has Concussion, Ponder May Start on Sunday

Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Minnesota Vikings quarterback Josh Freeman suffered a concussion Monday night against the New York Giants, which puts his status for this Sunday in doubt and moves Christian Ponder into a possible starting role against the Green Bay Packers.

Head coach Leslie Frazier said on Wednesday that Freeman will undergo the league-mandated concussion testing, but he added that it's "more than likely" Ponder starts on Sunday.

“We’ll have to proceed as if he’s [Freeman] not going to make it,” said Frazier. "We need to get Christian ready to go."

Freeman made his debut with Minnesota this past Monday night and struggled mightily, completing 20-of-53 passes for 190 yards and an interception.

The Vikings are (1-5) this season and will next be in action Sunday night at home against Green Bay, with that game set to start at 7:30 p.m. and be broadcast on KBJR6 and Range11.
