New York, NY (Northland's NewsCenter) --- A dismal second half led to a 75-51 loss for the Minnesota men's basketball team to Stanford in the National Invitational Tournament (NIT) championship game on Thursday night.
Rodney Williams led the Golden Gophers with 12 points in the game, but the team was outscored 44-26 in the second half en route to the lopsided loss.
Minnesota was vying for its third-ever NIT championship, the others coming in 1993 and 1998.
Chasson Randle and Aaron Bright each scored a game-high 15 points for the Cardinal, marking their second-ever NIT title.
