Hermantown, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Hermantown, Minn. native Drew LeBlanc was one of five players added to the United States roster on Monday ahead of the 2013 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championships, which are set to start on May 3.
LeBlanc played two games this regular season with the Chicago Blackhawks after signing a one-year contract on April 12, that after finishing his fifth-year senior season with St. Cloud State University (SCSU).
The Hermantown native won the 2013 Hobey Baker Award and was named the 2013 Premier Player of College Hockey, that after leading all of NCAA Division I with 37 assists in 2012-13.
He added 13 goals to that, finishing seventh in the nation with his 50 points. A captain for SCSU, LeBlanc was a key part of that Huskies team to advance to its first-ever NCAA Frozen Four and claim its first-ever Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) regular season title.
LeBlanc will join former University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) Bulldogs Justin Faulk and Tim Stapleton on the United States' roster, with the tournament set to run May 3-19 in Helsinki, Finland and Stockholm, Sweden.
