Newark, NJ (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Anze Kopitar scored on a breakaway in overtime to give the Los Angeles Kings a 2-1 win over New Jersey in game one of the 2012 Stanley Cup Finals.
Jonathan Quick made 17 saves in goal for the Kings, a team that is now (9-0) on the road this postseason.
Martine Brodeur, meanwhile, stopped 23 shots for the Devils in the losing effort. New Jersey has now lost the first game of its past three postseason series.
Game two in the best-of-seven series is scheduled for Saturday, with drop of the puck set for 7:00 p.m. CST and can be seen live in the Northland on KBJR6 and Range11.
