Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love will have hand surgery and miss 8-10 weeks, the team announced on Wednesday evening.
The announcement comes after Love saw hand specialist Dr. Andy Weiland, who work at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
The surgery will be to repair the third and fourth metacarpal in Love's right hand, which he injured during the third quarter against Denver on Jan. 3.
The injury is to the same hand and bone that Love fractured in the offseason and forced him to miss Minnesota's first nine games this season.
Love has played in 18 games for the Timberwolves this season, averaging 18.3 points and 14.0 rebounds per game.
