Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Minnesota Lynx have announced a new agreement with the Mayo Clinic that includes placement of the hospital's name on the team's home and away jerseys, it was announced on Monday morning.
The agreement means the Lynx will now display the Mayo Clinic brand on the front of the team name, becoming the sixth WNBA franchise to feature a corporate sponsor on their uniform.
“This new collaboration with Mayo Clinic will help elevate our organization to even greater heights in terms of both recognition and brand association,” Minnesota executive vice president Roger Griffith said. “The jersey marquee is one element in a wide-ranging partnership with Mayo Clinic. In addition to winning two championships in the last three seasons, we continue to look to the future for ways to improve our business both on and off the court. Our relationship with Mayo Clinic accomplishes that.”
The agreement also institutes the Mayo Clinic as the exclusive presenting partner for Minnesota's 2014 season, which is scheduled to top off on May 16.
“The WNBA is thrilled to have the Mayo Clinic as a partner, and so excited to see their name on the jersey of one of our most successful teams,” WNBA president Laurel Richie said. “They are a perfect fit with the Minnesota Lynx -- both on and off the court – and we are so proud to be associated with one of the most well-respected, internationally recognized brands in health care.”
