Mauer Homers, Goes 4-for-5 in Twins Victory

Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Joe Mauer went 4-for-5 at the plate and hit a solo home run in the fifth inning as the Minnesota Twins earned an 8-2 win over the visiting Los Angeles Angels on Monday night.

Mauer drove in three runs for the Twins in the winning effort, with Trevor Plouffe adding two hits and a solo home run for Minnesota.

Kevin Correia was strong in earning his first win of ths season, going seven full innings while allowing just two earned runs on eight hits.

Minnesota is now (5-7) this 2013 season and will next be in action at 7:10 p.m. on April 16 as they host Los Angeles for game two of the three-game series.
