Green Bay, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- The NFL has extended the deadline for the Green Bay Packers to sell approximately 3,000 remaining tickets for Sunday's playoff game against San Francisco to Friday at 4:00 p.m., the team announced on Thursday afternoon.
The extension gives Green Bay an extra 24 hours to sell the remaining tickets to avoid a blackout of local television coverage for the game, which is scheduled for 3:40 p.m. on Sunday.
The impending blackout would not include television coverage in the Northland, with just Green Bay, Wausau, Milwaukee, and the Fox Cities set to be affected should the team fail to meet its goal.
The NFL's policy is that teams must have sold all available tickets 72 hours prior to kickoff to avoid a blackout. The last time Green Bay failed to sellout a home game was 1983 when the team hosted St. Louis in a first-round playoff game.
