Niederreiter, Wild Get Past Avs in Overtime

Denver, CO (NNCNOW.com) --- Nino Niederreiter notched his second goal of the game 5:02 into overtime to lift the Minnesota Wild past the Colorado Avalanche, 5-4 in Game 7 of the opening round of the Western Conference playoffs on Wednesday night.

For the first time since 2003, Minnesota won a playoff series and will face Chicago in the conference semifinals.

WIth 2:27 to play in regulation, Jared Spurgeon scored to even things up and force OT. Mikko Koivu and Dany Heatley also scored for the Wild.

Ilya Bryzgalov was forced into relief in net for Minnesota after Darcy Kuemper left midway through the third with an injury. In more than 13 minutes of action, Bryzgalov recorded just one save.

Minnesota will face the defending Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks on Friday, May 2nd at 8:30 p.m.
