January 15, 2014 Updated Jan 15, 2014 at 12:50 PM CDT

Green Bay, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy has been added to the 2014 NFL Pro Bowl roster in place of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, it was announced on Wednesday morning.

Lacy finished the regular season with 1,178 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns for Green Bay, with those totals leading NFL rookies this year and setting Packers franchise rookie records.

Add to that, Lacy was named the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Month for October, and his four 100-yard rushing games tied him for the most among NFL rookies.

Peterson was originally named to the Pro Bowl roster but will miss the annual event as he continues to recover from foot and groin injuries suffered late in the regular season.
