London, England (Northland's NewsCenter) --- United States swimmer Michael Phelps became the most decorated Olympian ever on Tuesday, winning his 19th medal as he and his teammates won easily in the 4x200-meter freestyle relay.
Phelps passes Soviet gymnast Larisa Latynina, who won 18 medals across three Olympic Games from 1956 to 1964.
The medal also marks Phelps' first gold of these 2012 London Summer Games, having won a silver medal in both the 4x100-meter freestyle relay and the 200-meter butterfly.
Joining Phelps on the 4x200-meter freestyle gold medal team were Ryan Lochte, Conor Dwyer, and Ricky Berens.
In his Olympic career, Phelps now has won 15 gold medals, two silver medals, and two bronze medals.
