Rodgers "Unlikely to Play" on Thanksgiving

November 26, 2013 Updated Nov 26, 2013 at 9:31 PM CST

Green Bay, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Aaron Rodgers is unlikely to play Thursday in Green Bay's Thanksgiving Day matchup against Detroit, head coach Mike McCarthy announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Rodgers returned to limited practice on Tuesday morning but still has yet to play since fracturing his collarbone in a Nov. 4 game against Chicago.

The Packers had outside hope the team's star quarterback would be ready in time for Thursday's NFC North showdown, but McCarthy said Rodgers had not quite been medically cleared to play in a game.

In his place, the team is preparing as if Matt Flynn will be the starting quarterback Thursday against Detroit, with that game set for an 11:30 a.m. start at Ford Field in Detroit, Mich.
