Royals Sweep the Twins, Win their 9th Straight

Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Lorenzo Cain robbed Trevor Plouffe of a two-run homer and Billy Butler knocked in two runs as the Royals swept the Twins 7-2 on Thursday afternoon for their ninth straight win.

Scott Diamond struggled again on the mound for the Twins, giving up six runs on nine hits in five innings.

Justin Morneau hit his ninth home run of the year, and Joe Mauer added an RBI in the loss.

The nine-game winning streak is the longest for Kansas City since 2003.

Minnesota (45-60) will host Houston on Friday at 7:10 p.m.
