Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Minnesota Twins have agreed to a one-year, $4 million contract with right-handed pitcher Mike Pelfrey, the team's website announced on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old Pelfrey is coming off Tommy John surgery this past May and still had to pass a physical before the deal could become official.
That surgery came after a strong start to last season with the New York Mets, in which Pelfrey put up a 2.29 earned run average in three starts.
A career sinkerball pitcher, Pelfrey has a career earned run average of 4.36 with 506 strikeouts and 318 walks across 896.1 total innings pitched.
