Twins Announce Their Plans for Home Opener

Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- With less than a week until the pro baseball season gets underway, the Minnesota Twins announced their plans on Monday for their home opener on April 7 against the Oakland Athletics.

The Twins will honor general manager Terry Ryan with a "Stand Up To Cancer" uniform patches for both teams. Ryan, 60, was diagnosed with squarmous cell carcinoma in early February.

The day will start with free breakfast for fans on the 7th Street side of Target Plaza from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. The gates will then open at 1 p.m. for a 3:10 p.m. scheduled start.

Several Twins legends will be at their respective gate including Bert Blyleven, Tony Oliva, and Kent Hrbek.

The ceremonial first pitch will be thrown out by Minneapolis-based actor Barkhad Abdi who was nominated for an Oscar for his role in "Captain Phillips."
