Cleveland, OH (NNCNOW.com) --- Pedro Hernandez made an emergency start for the Twins after Mike Pelfrey was scratched as the Twins avoided the three-game sweep with a 5-3 win over the Indians on Sunday afternoon.

Hernandez drove through the night from Rochester, New York with his wife and infant daughter in the car, arriving at the Twins hotels at 4 a.m.

Hernandez then pitched five innings for the Twins, giving up just earned runs while striking out two. After the game, Hernandez met up with Triple-A Rochester in Indianapolis.

Oswaldo Arcia and Josh Willingham each had two RBI's for the Twins, and Trevor Plouffe also knocked in a run.

Minnesota resumes action on Tuesday in Miami when they take on the Marlins at 6:10 p.m.
