Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Minnesota Twins will not play Joe Mauer for the remainder of the 2013 season as he continues to deal with symptoms of a concussion, the team announced on Monday afternoon.
Mauer hasn't played for Minnesota since August 19, when he sustained a concussion after being hit by a foul ball while catching.
The six-time All-Star hit for a .324 average with 47 runs batted in and 11 home runs this season, playing in 113 games for the Twins.
General manager Terry Ryan said, with seven games left this season, the club is just choosing to be extra careful with Mauer. He added that his star player hadn't suffered any unexpected setbacks in his recovery.
