Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Minnesota Twins traded backup catcher Drew Butera to the Los Angeles Dodgers for cash and a player to be named later before the trade deadline passed Wednesday afternoon.

Butera played for seven seasons with the Twins organization but played much of this season with Triple-A Rochester, aside from a brief stint while Joe Mauer was gone on paternal leave.

The 29-year-old had .182 batting average in 186 games for the Twins.

The Dodgers announced that Butera has been optioned to Triple-A affiliate Albuquerque.
