Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Minnesota Twins have traded catcher Ryan Doumit to the Atlanta Braves in exchange for left-handed pitcher Sean Gilmartin, the club officially announced on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old Gilmartin, the 28th overall selection in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft, has posted a (12-20) overall record with a 4.23 earned run average in his three professional seasons.

Last season with Triple-A Gwinnett, Gilmartin made 17 starts and finished the year with a 5.74 earned run average.

Doumit, meanwhile, hit for a .247 average this past season with the Twins and added 14 home runs. The 32-year-old has hit 10 home runs in five of the past six seasons, with his career-high of 18 coming with Minnesota in 2012.
