New York, NY (NNCNOW.com) --- The Twins ended their six-game skid on Saturday afternoon thanks to three solo home runs and a solid outing from Samuel Deduno as Minnesota beat New York 4-1, their first win in six tries against the Yankees this season.
Deduno pitched seven innings, giving up six hits and just one earned run while striking out three. He improves to 5-4 on the season.
Trevor Plouffe, Ryan Doumit, and Pedro Florimon all had home runs for the Twins. Glen Perkins recorded his 21st save of the season with 1-2-3 ninth inning.
Minnesota (38-53) and New York (51-43 play again on Sunday for the rubber match. Game time is set for 12:05 p.m.
