Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Minnesota Twins general manager Terry Ryan underwent successful neck surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. on Tuesday, the club announced after Ryan was diagnosed with neck cancer on Monday.

Ryan had three doctor appointments at the Mayo Clinic on Monday before under-going surgery on Tuesday. Dr. Vijay Eyunni, the team physician, said Monday that Ryan will also need radiation after the surgery but that chemotherapy is not likely.

The 60-year-old will miss the start of spring training, and there's no timetable for his return.
