Minneapolis, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- There were lots of rumors the past few days and weeks, but, in the end, the Minnesota Twins passed on moving outfielder Denard Span ahead on Tuesday's 3:00 p.m. CT trade deadline.
The most recently rumored landing spot for Span was Cincinnati, a team with a stated need for a more reliable leadoff hitter.
Span has been solid for Minnesota thus far in the 2012 season, hitting for a .290 average and driving in 32 runs for the Twins.
Other Minnesota players rumored to be on the trade market were outfielder Josh Willingham and infielder Justin Morneau, both of whom also remain with the Twins after the deadline.
There is still the August 31 deadline, before which players can be traded after they clear waivers.
