Twins Promote Top Pitching Prospect Gibson

Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Twins promoted highly-touted pitching prospect Kyle Gibson from Triple-A Rochester on Sunday afternoon. Gibson, 25, will make his major league debut on Saturday against the Royals at Target Field.

Gibson, the Twins 2009 first-round draft pick and 22nd overall, was 7-5 in Rochester this season and unbeaten in his last three starts. He posted a 3.01 ERA over 15 starts and 92 2/3 innings.

The 6-foot-6 right-hander out of the University of Missouri entered the year as the 68th-best prospect in baseball by Baseball America.

The Twins also optioned left-hander Pedro Hernandez to Triple-A Rochester.
