Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Minnesota Twins announced they have reached a deal with their first overall draft pick and the fourth overall pick, Kohl Stewart, on Wednesday afternoon.

Stewart was ranked as the top high school pitcher in the country. He posted a 5-1 mark with a 0.18 ERA in 40 innings.

It's the first time since 1992 the Twins have taken a pitcher with their first round pick. Minnesota has now signed 21 of their first 25 in the 2013 draft.

The 18-year-old and Houston, Tex. native was the first high school player taken in this year's draft. The slot value of the signing bonus for the fourth pick is $4.5 million.

The 6-foot-3, 208 pound Stewart was a two-sport athlete and was recruited to play quarterback for Texas A&M. In his final football season, he passed for 2,560 yards and 28 touchdowns.
