Minneapolis, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Minnesota Twins agreed to terms with the club's 2012 first-round draft pick Byron Buxton late Tuesday night, signing the 18-year-old outfielder to a $6 million deal.

Buxton was the number two overall selection in the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft, the Twins' highest selection since the club took Joe Mauer first overall in 2001.

The Georgia native hit .513 this past season with Appling County High School, hitting 17 doubles and three home runs with 35 runs batted in and 38 stolen bases.

Buxton also went (10-1) as a pitcher for Appling County, throwing 154 strikeouts in 81 innings pitched.
