Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Minnesota Twins have signed free agent right-handed pitcher Ricky Nolasco to a four-year contract worth $48 million, the team announced on Tuesday.

Nolasco comes to the Twins expected to bolster the club's starting rotation, which has been a huge source of disappointment the past three seasons.

The 30-year-old Nolasco played with both Miami and Los Angeles last season, finishing u[ with a 3.70 earned run average with 165 strikeouts and 46 walks in 199.1 innings pitched.

His $48 million deal is the most expensive free agent contract in team history, beating out outfielder Josh Willingham's three-year, $21 million contract signed before the 2012 season.
